WPRC’S GUNS ‘N HEELS 2023

On Saturday, July 29, 2023, WPRC hosted its third-annual ladies-only event, Guns 'n Heels.
We were pleased to have both the CCFR and The Gun Dealer partner with us, and receive
donations from the RNBRA, Brennon’s Home Hardware, and Currie’s.

80 ladies registered for Guns ‘n Heels this year, 17 of whom had attended previously. Skill
levels varied, but many of these ladies had limited, if any, shooting experience. We had 33 all-
day volunteers plus 4 half-day volunteers running this event, including special guests CCFR Vice
President for Public Relations Tracey Wilson, and CCFR Provincial Director for NB, NS, and
NFLD Jason Gallen. These guests were not only a considerable help to us, but an encouragement
to our shooters.

We divided the ladies into 5 groups, who travelled from station to station together. These
groups were together all day, so ladies had a chance to shoot with their old friends and make
some new ones as they cheered each other on. Each group of ladies journeyed from .22 pistols to
.38 special revolvers shooting at steel targets, followed by 9mm pistols aiming at balloons, and
finally .45 pistols firing on steel. The long gun circuit began with .22 rifles firing on customized
pink and purple Guns ‘n Heels targets, followed by 12 gauge shotguns with balloons and a clay
thrower, and finally centrefire rifles (.223, 9mm .308) featuring the ShotMarker system. After the
first 3.5 sessions, we sat down under the big tents at noon for a delicious chicken parmesan
dinner provided by Brigitte's Catering, and then finished the last 1.5 sessions before leaving for
home, all smiles.

Guns ‘n Heels provides a safe and enjoyable setting for ladies to receive firearm instruction
and try a variety of firearms. Their experience helps alleviate some of the fears and
misconceptions surrounding firearms and promotes shooting as a legitimate sport. Guns ‘n Heels
2023 was another huge success.
